Texas Tech enters the matchup 6-6 overall. Most recently, Texas defeated Texas Tech 57-7 on Nov. 24. Cal comes into the contest 6-6 overall. On Nov. 25, Cal beat UCLA 33-7. In the only previous meeting between the Texas Tech and Cal football programs, Texas Tech won 45-31 in the 2004 Holiday Bowl.
